Here is an interesting article from Germany about the pain experienced by musicians.
It’s good to see that more people are starting to write about the ‘darker side’ of a musician’s career. I was particularly interested in the comments about instrument design. It is an area that deserves much more consideration in the overall health and well-being of musicians. When you think the basic design of some instruments hasn’t changed in centuries it is easy to understand that ergonomically they may not be best placed for the many hours of playing that is required by today’s performers. We have so much technology available, it would be good to see instrument makers explore ways of adapting instruments to the demands of contemporary music making.
